Speedway is working the system!

Attention all who drive thru the intersection at Rt 30 and Wolf's Crossing.
I have just become aware of the proposition to build a Speedway that will cater to car traffic as well as Semi-trucks.  Safety and congestion are major concerns.  Speedway has expressed that they feel there is NO need for any road improvements to this intersection to accommodate the congestion to the area.  I guess they have not visited the site between 4:30-6pm and seen the traffic back-ups down Wolf's Crossing extending past Eola, or ever tried to turn left onto Rt 30.  This is just laughable!  There are improvements needed now, without additional traffic, especially with the addition of Semi-trucks.  There is 1 proposed entrance from Rt 30 and 2 entrances on Wolf's Crossing.  The thought is that the Semi-trucks will not be able to turn left directly off of Rt 30 into the gas station, so they will have to turn at the light onto Wolf's Crossing, and then turn left into this proposed Speedway.  THIS MEANS A LOT MORE CONGESTION TO A ROAD THAT GETS BACKED UP IF ONLY 1 CAR NEEDS TO TURN LEFT.   Congestion is just part of the problem.

There are 2 schools located only 82 feet away from this property.  Is it really a good idea to place a gas station catering to Semi-trucks, and selling alcohol and cigarettes, across the street - 82 feet away from an Elementary and Jr High School?  While it may appear that there is just an empty field behind the schools, this is used regularly for outdoor PE, cross country, and baseball games.  Under Oswego's Village ordinance, it is not allowed for an institution to be within 100 feet of a school if they have major sales of alcohol.  They have said Speedway would not be considered a "major sale" and therefore this does not apply.  The property is going thru the process of being de-annexed from Aurora and annexed to Oswego due to the fact that they would not be allowed to sell liquor if it remains Aurora property.  In my opinion they are only looking out for their own best interest and not the interest of the community they are going to influence.   We need to be careful for the safety of our children and what is in their backyard.  SPEEDWAY IS WORKING THE SYSTEM.  We need to let the Oswego Village Board know that they need to say no to Speedway's plan.
