Letter: Baird Has a Vision for Improving Kendall County Sheriff's Department

I have followed Dwight Baird’s public service career since he was a junior patrolman and doubt that anyone in police work has a finer record.  

Chief Baird worked his way up the line and has proven himself at every turn. He conducted undercover narcotic operations at great risk to himself early on. He educated himself with Master’s Degrees in Criminal Justice and the FBI Academy in Quantico. And he elevated the Oswego Police Department to awards given only to a prestigious few police departments in the nation. When called on to be the acting village administrator he once again proved his management skills, winning compliments from all village trustees and citizens.

As importantly, Chief Baird has a plan and vision for improving the Kendall County Sheriff’s office. No other candidate has articulated such a comprehensive plan that will be of benefit to us all. 

Personally, I will be sad to see him leave the chief post in Oswego, but am heartened that we will have his talents available to us countywide. True to form, he has trained and developed several worthy successors for the Village officials to choose from as his replacement. Please join me in voting for Dwight Baird for Sheriff.
