This must be a sign of the apocalypse for the Plainfield Park District majority.

Peter's Law may be the result of a park district majority out of control, when the state legislature feels they must  step in, the result could be "Peter's Law."

Tom Cross on WJOL Friday morning said that he and Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant are drafting legislation to fix the Plainfield Park District problem by creating a new law, "Peter's Law."

Wow, at first blush I don't like it. I don't like the legislature stepping in to fix any local board. I additionally don't like any watering down of local voters ability to choose their own local boards by having mayors appoint board members.

And, I don't like the legislature needing to step in when a majority of a board is out of control.

"Peter's Law " would be a long-term solution to a short-term problem. The fix to this problem is much easier. The solution is for a the majority of the Plainfield Park District Board to resign.

Since we have almost four years until we can remove Peter Hurtado from the Park District Board through the election process, I understand and support some solution by the legislature. I also applaud the effort of our local legislators to try to help fix the problem of the Plainfield Park Districts recent problems.

Pete Hurtado, Janet Silosky, Peter Steinys, please resign and get out of the way of your community's desire for a really good park district. Please don't let your legacy be "Peter's Law."
