Come people lets get a move on this is closer then you think. All the help we can get will be greatly appreciated.
Pat I have the flyer and it will be up at work tonight (Caterpillar) . I hope this spikes the amount of shoes you get for this great event. Also I will post it again on my facebook account and e-mail all my friends and see who can help.

Pat, you can sign me up to read names :)
Pat Gavros August 23, 2011 at 10:13 pm
Thanks Jillian! I'll put you on the list. As it gets closer I'll send you your list of names so you can familiarize yourself with them.

By the way............I'll be on WSPY radio tomorrow morning. I did a phone interview today and Barb Nadeau will be running it between 6 a.m. and Noon. I'll also be on WSPY Television on Thursday morning from 8:30 until 9:00 to talk about the event.
Thanks everyone. It seems to be picking up momentum, but we're not even halfway there yet.

Pat I now have put this up at Work (Caterpillar) and have it in almost all of the buildings. Also have you asked businesses in the area to post the flier in a window of theirs. My next campaign is to go door to door some time this weekend in my neighborhood and see what I can get from my neighbors. I recommend this to anyone that reads this. You know grass-roots is the best way to get the word out.
Hopefully Pat you will see a influx of shoes and volunteers since I have posted this at work.

Richard, Thank you so much! You're absolutely right. I think that's a great idea. Maybe I'll make up some flyers and stand out by the light and give them to passing motorists. I just picked up my "SHOEMOMETER" and will put it in the yard when my son finishes mowing the lawn. I really admire your "can do" attitude.

I have a truck with an 18' trailer if you need anything transported to and from the location.

Can do attitude? It is must do for me and my family. How can someone not support your tried-less efforts on what you have done so far. I'm nominating you for Citizen and maybe humanitarian of the year. Just my opinion
Pat also I think we need to hit up the High schools in town and see what they can do for you and this great cause. I'm thinking with over 2k in kids in each school if we can get 10% of them donating shoes you should land another 400 from both high schools. Maybe some of the great school groups could help out and volunteer. I think we need to e-mail the principals of the schools and see how they can make this happen. Also I'm going to see how I can get this over to Aurora university(my Daughter goes there) and maybe out to waubonsee community college since they are starting their new school year as well. Feel free to one that can help on the Waubonsee Community College if you go there and have the hook-up for events.

Can someone explain what the shoes are for? I'm sorry, this is the first I've heard, or read, of this. Thank you.

We are collecting shoes for a 9/11 memorial that will take place in downtown Oswego on Sunday, 9/11. There will be 2,977 pairs (one for each person who died that day). You can look over my other blog about it. Just type in 9/11 Memorial Volunteers needed and I think that's the one that has all of the info. Thanks!

Would love to bring our family out and help out in whatever we can. Let me know what volunteer opportunities are still open. We have small children and would like for them to participate. Thanks!

Any tween bicycles? Any bunk beds? Definitely interested in the recliner and the glasses.
