2-Year-Old Pulled from Pond After Being Reported Missing

Officer, deputy rescued boy from pond in unincorporated Montgomery.

Police said a 2-year-old boy was in critical condition Monday afternoon after the toddler was pulled from a pond.

Kendall County Deputy Bryan Harl said police responded to a report of a lost child at around 12:15 p.m.

Harl said deputies and officers from area police departments completed a thorough search of the area and ultimately found the boy in a retention pond near his home.

The child was pulled from the pond by a sheriff's deputy and an Oswego police officer and transported to Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora, Harl said.

The boy was still being treated as of late Monday afternoon, according to police.

The circumstances around the child's disappearance are still being investigated, Harl said.
