Armed Robber Hits Yorkville Aldi

Makes off with undisclosed amount of cash.

An armed robber stole an undisclosed amount of cash from Yorkville's Aldi store, 1610 Bridge St., Thursday night, according to Yorkville police.

A few minutes after 7 p.m. a masked man clad in camouflage clothing and construction hat demanded money from the lone cashier on duty. The perpetrator told the cashier he was armed, but did not display a weapon, Police Chief Richard Hart said Thursday night.

"He walked in and walked right up to the cashier demanding money," Hart said.

Hart said there were a number of witnesses to the incident, but said no one was hurt.

The suspect's disguise prevented witnesses from providing a clear descritption, Hart said.

The suspect took off on foot and police are combing the area looking for him. Hart said the Yorkville Police Department is being assisted by the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, the Illinois State Police and other area law enforcement agencies.

Patch will update as more information is made available.

i know the cashier - the trauma and disruption to the cashier and the cashiers life are beyond words - scares me - if anyone else wants to comment on this story - the cashier did the best possible. could anyone of you imagine being in that situation. someone could walk into your place of employment. if you work in an accountants office - demand records - get what i mean.
