Aurora Police Investigating 'Suspicious' Death

After a 32-year-old woman was found dead Saturday morning, police are focusing on a 35-year-old man who previously had a relationship with her.

Aurora police are calling the death of a 32-year-old woman suspicious, and said they are focusing their investigation on a man with whom she had a prior relationship.

In a press release, Sgt. Matt Thomas said the victim's mother contacted police at around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, saying the 32-year-old had failed to show up for work and could not be reached by telephone.

Officers conducting a welfare check at the victim's home on the far east side of Aurora found her deceased, Thomas said.

Police are not releasing the victim's name, but said a preliminary investigation has led investigators to believe there was foul play.

Thomas said police are focusing their investigation on a man "who had a prior domestic relationship with the victim."

At around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, a member of the man's family contacted police and asked them to check on his welfare, police said.

Officers gained entry into his home, also located on Aurora's far east side, and found him unconscious but breathing, Thomas said.

Police said the man is in custody, and there is no present danger to the public.

"This appears to be an isolated incident," Thomas said in a press release.

Police are not releasing the addresses of either residents until search warrants have been executed, according to Thomas.

An autopsy is pending at the DuPage County Coroner's office, police said.
