Car Vs. Tree Sends Two to Hospital [Video]

Accident occurred around 4:20 p.m. on Morgan Valley Drive.

Update, 5:20 p.m. Tuesday

The cause of the accident was determined to be speeding and road conditions due to the rain, said Captain Jeff Burgner.

The driver, a juvenile, was charged with driving too fast for conditions in the accident.

A family friend who knows driver and passenger, both students at Oswego High School, provided a brief update on their conditions.

The passenger has a broken femur, skull fracture, as well as other fractures and breaks. The driver has a concussion and various fractures.

Traffic was diverted temporarily at the Deerpath Creek subdivision entrance off Grove after a car ran into a tree in the 300 block of Morgan Valley around 4:20 p.m.

Driver and passenger, both male, were transported to Rush Copley with injuries, said Oswego Fire battalion chief Josh Walters. Details were not available for the extent of the injuries.

Captain Jeff Burgner of the Oswego Police said an extrication was required to remove the persons from the vehicle.

At this point there is no definitive cause for the accident, said Burgner.
