No one injured; Kendall County Sheriff's Office looking for dark-colored minivan.

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred at about 1:35 p.m. Wednesday in the first block of Circle Drive East in Boulder Hill.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Deputy Craig French said three shots were fired, and both the home and a vehicle were hit. The home was occupied at the time, but French said no one was injured.

French described the vehicle as a "dark-colored mini-van." French also said the residential neighborhood is not known for drug or gang activity and that it's been years to his recollection since such an incident has occurred in Boulder Hill.

Neighbors along that block backed him up. Thelma Weeks said she has lived in the neighborhood for 49 years and has never seen anything like what happened Wednesday.

"I heard shots, but I didn't see anything," she said. "It sounded to me like someone trying to separate two metal things with a sledgehammer."

Weeks said police blocked off Circle Drive East from Wyndham Drive to Marnel Road while investigating the shooting.

Darrell Rittierodt said he heard "four or five shots" and saw the police arrive and barricade the road. He didn't see anything else, he said.

Rittierodt has lived on that block for 25 years, he said, and like Weeks, he's never seen or heard a shooting there before.

"It's the first time ever," he said.
