Former Oswego Man Charged in Carjacking [UPDATED]
Daniel Webb is accused of grabbing a 57-year-old woman and pulling her out of her vehicle Friday night at Route 30 and Douglas Road.
A man who was taken into custody after allegedly crashing a stolen car into a gas pump at an Oswego Shell station has been charged with motor vehicle theft, police said Monday.
Daniel Webb, 29, of Manchester, New Hampshire, is accused of opening the door of a vehicle stopped at Route 30 and Douglas Road Friday evening and forcing a 57-year-old woman out before driving off.
According to Montgomery police, Webb grabbed the woman and pulled her out of the vehicle and onto the pavement before fleeing in her 2007 Mazda CX-5, heading east on Route 30.
Webb, a former Oswego resident, according to Montgomery police, allegedly crashed the Mazda into a gas pump at a Shell gas station/Circle K, 1190 Route 34.
Oswego Police Capt. Jeff Burgner said Webb knocked on the windows of two vehicles at the gas station before allegedly forcing one of the drivers out and getting into the vehicle.
A bystander reportedly came to the driver's aid, confronting Webb outside the gas station. The two were engaged in a physical altercation when police arrived, Burgner said. Officers were able to take Webb into custody without incident, police said.
Webb is charged with motor vehicle theft in the Montgomery incident, police said. In the Oswego incident, he faces charges of aggravated vehicular hijacking, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving and reckless conduct.
Webb is currently in custody at the Kendall County jail. Bond was set at $500,000, according to Oswego police.
