A 54-year-old Geneva woman was killed in a motorcycle crash west of Elgin Saturday afternoon.

Sharon Schulz, of the 700 block of Lancaster Lane, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin following the crash at 3:10 p.m. where she was pronounced dead, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office press release.

The accident occurred when a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, which was traveling east on Route 20 near Switzer Road in unincorporated Plato Township, left the road for an unknown reason and struck a guardrail, according to the press release.

Schulz was the driver of the motorcycle and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to police. The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash and Schulz was the sole occupant of the motorcycle.
