Joliet Woman Killed in Kendall County Crash

A Serena woman was charged with driving under the influence in connection with the Monday afternoon head-on collision.

A Joliet woman was killed in a head-on collision near the intersection of Route 52 and Brisbin Road Monday afternoon.

Susan Jones, 66, was a passenger in one of the two vehicles involved in the 2:51 p.m. crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Jones was riding in a 2006 Chevy Silverado driven east by a 68-year-old man. The pickup slammed into a westbound Chevy Camaro driven by 56-year-old Susan Bendenk of Serena.

Both Bendenk and the man driving the Silverado were taken to area hospitals, police said. Bendenk was charged with driving under the influence.
