Temperatures may be at or just below freezing in some areas as the rain begins, meaning freezing rain and icing could occur before temperatures soar into the 40s or even the 50s Thursday afternoon as the rain ends.

Some more scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon as a strong cold front moves through by evening, bringing an end to our approximately 12 hour long fling with spring.

The warm weather and rain could make an elevated risk for flooding.

The Kendall County Emergency Management Agency has provided the following list of tasks that might reduce your chances of sustaining damage prior to a flood:

  • Check your sump pump, and ensure it is operational.  If you are unable, you can contact a qualified professional.
  • If you are able, clear storm drains and sump pump discharge of snow and ice.  Also clear the area around your down spouts and gutter discharge, ensuring running water has a place to go.
