Kendall County Retailers Pass Tobacco Compliance Checks

Sheriff's police conducted compliance checks on Feb. 20.

Kendall County Sheriff's police recently conducted a compliance sweep at tobacco retailers — and local businesses passed with flying colors.

"All of the tobacco retailers in unincorporated Kendall County were in compliance will Illinois tobacco laws," Deputy Brian Harl said in a press release. The compliance checks were completed on Feb. 20.

The checks are done to determine whether local tobacco retailers are complying with state minimum-age tobacco laws which prohibit the sale of tobacco to persons under the age of 18.

Compliance checks are funded by a grant awarded by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission’s “Kids Can’t Buy ‘Em Here” Tobacco Enforcement Program.
