Local Men Charged in Oswego Area Counterfeit Ring

Oswego Police worked with the U.S Secret Service to investigate the currency counterfeit ring.

Three local men, including one from Oswego, have been arrested and charged with forgery in  U.S. currency counterfeit ring that operated out of the Oswego area, said Oswego Police.

In late January 2013 the Oswego police began a joint investigation with the United States Secret Service after the Oswego police took original incident reports.

The counterfeit ring was found to e obtaining counterfeit money from an area in Chicago and would then sell that counterfeit money to other suspects in the Oswego area, said police.

Those suspects would then purchase small value items and pass the counterfeit money at local retail establishments and received real money in change during the transaction.

After an intensive investigation which included the Aurora Police Department, Montgomery Police Department and the Naperville Police Department, the Oswego police department arrested and charged the following three individuals with forgery.

  • Luis R. Morales, 19, of the 300 block of Grapevine Trail, Oswego;
  • Alfredo D. Henderson, 25, of the 1000 block of Knollwood Drive, Aurora, with a bond set at $50,000 with 10 percent applying;
  • David J. Nawrot, 17, of the 1800 block of Westfield Drive, Aurora, with a bond set for $10,000 and 10 percent applying

All subjects at this time have been arrested on warrants for this incident.

Henderson has a court date set for June 27, Nawrot for June 28 and Morales for July 3, according to Kendall County court records.
