Man Charged for Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of Oswego Child

Joseph J. Evans, 38, was reportedly an acquaintance of the family.

An Aurora man has been taken into custody and charged with a count of sexual assault and sexual abuse of a child, according to the Kendall County Sheriff's office. 

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on June 17, 2012, at approximately 6:02 a.m.

Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 0-100 block of Boat Lane, Oswego for a report of a criminal sexual assault.

The victim’s mother reported that her seven-year-old daughter had been sexually assaulted by an acquaintance of the family.

Kendall County detectives began an investigation into the matter.

On July 26, 2013 a warrant was issued for Joseph J. Evans, 38, of the 1500 block of Galway Drive, Aurora for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child (class X felony) and aggravated criminal sexual abuse (class 2 felony) with a bond of $250,000 with percent required to apply.

On November 8, 2013 Joseph Evans was taken into custody in Chicago. 

He is currently in custody in the Cook County Jail, said the Sheriff's office. 

The public is reminded that criminal defendants are presumed innocent until the government is able to prove its charges in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
