Four members of the Oswego Police Department received the Life Saving Award from the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP) which was presented to them by association Director John Kennedy at the August 6, 2013 Village Board meeting.
Sergeant Jason Bastin, Officer Kelly Garcia, Officer Brandon Dilg and Community Service Officer David Lach were nominated for their actions performed on December 7, 2012 regarding their response for a medical emergency where a subject was unresponsive in his vehicle.
The officers removed him from the vehicle, began lifesaving measures, including CPR and AED application. These efforts resuscitated the individual and he was later transported to the hospital by medical personnel. The quick actions of these officers resulted in saving the life of this individual.
