Members of Oswego Police Recognized at Annual Respect for Law Banquet
Oswego Police Department members were recognized for valor, life saving and one was named officer of the year.
Several members of the Oswego Police Department were recognized at the 28 Annual Respect for Law Banquet held on Saturday, March 9.
All of the events members received recognition for happned in 2012.
Officer Brandon Dilg, Officer Kelly Garcia, C.S.O. David Lach and Sergeant Bastin all received the Life Saving Award for removing a man from a vehicle on Route 34 and performed CPR and applied an AED to save the man's life as he was in full cardiac arrest, said Police Chief Dwight Baird. The man attended the banquet with his wife.

Officer Ben Hackl received the Valor Award for coming to the aid of an Montgomery Sergeant during a shooting. He also provided first aid and protected the officer from further injury, said Baird, adding that the sergeant still has not returned to work.
Hackl also received the Officer of the Year Award for seizing 26 pounds of marijuana on a traffic stop and for responding to a shot fired call and locating the offenders and recovering a loaded handgun.
