No One Injured in Route 31 Industrial Fire

Firefighters battled the blaze for about 90 minutes.

No one was injured Tuesday night as firefighters battled a large blaze that started in a rubbish pile and quickly spread to a stack of about 3,000 wooden pallets behind Industrial Pallet at Route 31 and Caterpillar Drive.

Fire crews were called out at about 5:30 p.m., and Battalion Chief Josh Flanders said the fire was put out in about 90 minutes. In all, eight pieces of OFPD equipment were used.

The fire, which Flanders said was not suspicious in nature, began behind a 1,500-square-foot building that also housed several vehicles. The flames quickly spread to the facility and ignited the vehicles, as well.

The fire also spread to another nearby business, J&G Concrete, Flanders said.

Damage estimates were not immediately available. Fire crews from Montgomery, Plainfield and Sugar Grove assisted.
