UPDATE: 21-Year-Old Victim Identified in Fatal Friday Night Crash

Two vehicles were involved in the deadly accident.

Oswego police have identified the victim in a fatal car crash in Oswego from Friday evening. 

Jared X. Harrell, 21, of Aurora, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at approximately 6:37 p.m. on Route 30 east of Fifth Street.

Preliminary investigation reveals that two vehicles were involved in the accident. A vehicle traveling east bound on Route 30 crossed over the center line of the roadway and was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound.

Harrell was a passenger in the vehicle traveling eastbound.  The driver of the eastbound vehicle, Janella Harrell, 24, also of Aurora, was transported to Rush-Copley Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the wesbound vehicle, Stephen P. Pierce, 61, of North Aurora was also transported, but was treated and released at Rush-Copley.

At this time Oswego police said there is no indication of impaired driving by any of the parties. 

The crash is still under investigation.

One person has been reported killed in a Friday evening crash in Oswego, according to Oswego police.

Captain Jeff Burgner said Oswego police responded to the crash around 6:30 p.m. which occurred at Route 30 and Goodwin.

Burgner said that it was a two-vehicle crash and that the coroner is on scene.

“We have one person prounced dead at the scene. We don’t know about the other occupants now,” said Burgner.

All the other occupants were transported to hospitals and Northern Illinois Fireground reported that a helicopter transport was requested.  

No names or information have been released at this time.

Route 30 is going to be closed indefinitely, said Burgner, between for right now Route 34 and Fifth Street. Drivers should avoid the area.

The Oswego accident reconstruction team is on site and is currently investigating the crash.
