Oswego Blotter: Dumpster Fire at Oswego School; Green Dot Scam

Plus: Burglaries, cannabis charges.

April 22

Kendall County Sheriff's Police are investigating a suspected arson at Long Beach Elementary School, 4175 Route 71, after a dumpster fire at the school. During the investigation, police also determined someone had ripped a plastic piece off playground equipment.

A juvenile was arrested by Oswego police at Route 34 and Chesterfield and charged with driving without a valid license, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and curfew violation, police said.

A resident of the 300 block of Persimmon Lane said someone stole a garage door opener from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway, Oswego police said.

A resident said someone stole $400 cash from a home in the 0-100 block of Maple Lane, Oswego police said.

Anderson Jackson, 20, of the 2900 block of Alden Avenue, Aurora, was arrested by Kendall County Sheriff's police at Douglas Road and Long Beach Road and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and cannabis, police said.

Oswego police said a black male suspect allegedly pumped $13.03 worth of fuel then left the Shell gas station, 1190 Route 34.

April 21

Kendall County Sheriff's police are investigating an alleged hit and run in the 0-100 block of Aldon Court in unincorporated Oswego. A driver reported that an unknown male subject hit the front passenger side of his vehicle will pulling out of a driveway on the street, causing damage to the vehicle, police said.

Oswego police are investigating a scam in which the victim got a call from someone claiming to be offering a college grant for tuition. The victim was told to activate a Green Dot Card, or prepaid debit card available at convenience stores, and give the caller the activation code on the back of the card to pay taxes on the grant. The victim then gave the information to the offenders, police said.

April 20 

Several unlocked vehicles in the parking lot at 109 Harbor Drive were keyed and burglarized, according to Kendall County Sheriff's police. Stolen items included money and electronics, police said.

Residents of the 2400 block of Light Road, unincorporated Oswego, told police that unknown subjects entered their home while they were away. No items were observed to be missing, police said.

April 19

Someone stole $6,200 worth of jewelry from a home in the 200 block of Willowwood Drive in Oswego while the adults were away for the weekend, police said.
