Oh I can't believe it! Oh I just want to cry! All the years I have spoken up against alcohol, trying to HELP people, trying to make a difference in the world, and Oswego opens a WINE AND CHEESE SHOP?? I can't believe it!! I am so upset I am shaking. I just can't believe this! I have ranted against alcohol for ten years online, writing tons of blogs, thousands of comments, even a BOOK about why we shouldn't use alcohol! My book has been online since 2006! I thought I had made a difference in the world! And I have spent hours writing to wineries, breweries, restaurants, PBS stations that promote and glorify alcohol with their travel shows, cooking shows and restaurant review shows. I have ranted about the wine tasting and brew fest Oswego has every year, which sets a terrible example. And I thought people UNDERSTOOD. I thought I had made a difference, and now THIS?? A wine and cheese shop??? You people are making me crazy! I have explained over and over that alcohol is a DRUG. Just because it's legal doesn't make it right. You wouldn't smoke pot, would you? Heaven's no, because "drugs are bad" and you aren't a drug user. But alcohol is a drug! A casual booze drinker is no better than a casual pot smoker, except they aren't breaking the law. They are after the same psychoactive effect, that 'buzz" one gets from a mind-altering drug. And that is not good! A grown adult should set an example and not drink! And we will NEVER get the pot smokers to understand why it's wrong and immature to use drugs, as long as people drink booze. I have chastised pot smokers for years online, and their number one excuse is "Pot is safer than alcohol." I tell them over and over we shouldn't smoke pot OR drink alcohol! How hard is that?? Not to mention the health risks; studies show that even in low doses, alcohol significantly increases the risk of breast cancer in women, along with liver and rectum cancer. LOW DOSES! And people think red wine is good for your heart; well you'd have to drink hundreds of bottles a day to get any benefit, and it's the GRAPES, not the alcohol! Alcohol is a toxin! It poisons cells! But even if it were good for you, just the fact that it's a mind-altering drug makes it wrong! Can't you see that?? People need to GROW UP and set an example and not use mind-altering drugs, to relax, have "fun", unwind, celebrate, socialize, get buzzed, etc. What a thing to do! And don't anybody DARE tell me that Jesus drank wine. Oh it makes me furious when people say that! Internet people must tell me that 200 times a day. I am so sick of it! I have explained over and over that times were different then, and in many cases the water was unsafe and they had to drink wine in order to avoid getting sick. Also there is evidence that the wine they used in Biblical days was not as we know it today, that it was more like grape juice. Plus we know more today! We know that alcohol is a toxin, and that it poisons cells. And again, even if alcohol were good for you, just the fact that it's a mind-altering drug makes it wrong and just plain immature! Again, people need to GROW UP. Great, so now all the young people in the community will pass by this place and think that when you grow up, it's good to use a mind-altering drug to relax, have "fun", celebrate, socialize, etc. And all the pot smokers will feel further justified in continuing THEIR drug use!
