Oswego Firefighters Respond to Possible Plainfield Arson Sunday
Emergency crews directed traffic all night, while firefighters got the blaze under control.
Officials said they are still trying to “track down” the owner of the house that burned this weekend in a late night fire, which authorities have labeled arson.
Oswego firefighters first responded around 1 a.m. Sunday to a fire at an abandoned house at Route 30 and 95th Street. The and Plainfield Emergency Management teams came to the scene soon after, when it was determined the fire was within Plainfield jurisdiction, Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said.
“It is being deemed arson," he said. “It is still under investigation.”

Emergency crews managed traffic for most of the night until about 6 a.m. Sunday, when firefighters got the blaze under control. Crews first determined no one was in the house and then decided not to try to save the interior.
“There were multiple issues in the house,” Stratton said. “The stairway was collapsed and there was a lot of interior damage.”
