Oswego Man Arrested for Burglary of Motor Vehicles, Drug Offenses

Zachary D. Harmon, 21, was charged with two counts of burglary to motor vehicles from residences down the street.

An Oswego man has been charged with multiple counts stemming from an incident of a burglary to a motor vehicle, said Oswego police.

At sometime between 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 and 6 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, two vehicles were reported burglarized in the 600 block of Manhattan Circle.

In the first incident, the person entered a vehicle parked in the home's driveway and stole a briefcase, iPhone, iPad and a laptop computer.  In the second, the subject entered another vehicle also parked on the driveway and took a GPS unit and radar detector, valued together at over $500.

Police learned that the stolen laptop was attempted to be sold at a local business. Also during the course of the initial investigation, police received information that some of the stolen items were located in a residence in the 800 block of Columbus Drive.

Later that day, Oswego Police entered a home in the 800 block of Columbus Drive for a well-being call check. Upon entry to the residence two occupants were examined by Oswego Fire Protection District paramedics, but both declined to go to the hospital.

During a search of the residence, police recovered the stolen property from the two car burglaries reported earlier that day. They also found cannabis, drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance (prescription medication).

Upon further investigation, police found that other items recovered in the home were from a burglary to a motor vehicle that occurred in the 800 block of Columbus Drive during the same time of the other two burglaries and those items were recovered as well.

Zachary D. Harmon, 21, of the 800 block of Columbus Road was charged with two counts of burglary to a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis, said Oswego police.

He is scheduled to appear in Kendall County Court on Monday, Nov. 25.
