Oswego Man Filed Phony Police Report: Sheriff

Ryan Alexander claimed more than $900 in credit card charges weren't his, police said.

An Oswego man is accused of filing a false police report after claiming he was the victim of credit card fraud, police said.

Ryan Alexander, 28, of the 5000 block of Route 71, filed a report on Aug. 26, 2013, claiming that a credit card statement contained in excess of $900 in fraudulent charges.

"He was saying the balance wasn't his," Deputy Bryan Harl said. But police said an investigation revealed that Alexander's claim was false.

Alexander was arrested on Jan. 31 and charged with filing a false police report, a Class 4 felony. He was released after posting $500 bail, according to police.
