Oswego Officer Represents Illinois in Special Olympics Torch Run

Officer Cherese Spears will represent Illinois on the final leg of the torch run, delivering the Flame of Hope to the Special Olympics USA in New Jersey.

Several members of the Oswego Police Department on Wednesday took part in the Special Olympics Torch Run, meeting several Special Olympians at the intersection of Route 34 and Route 31 and running with them to Hudson Crossing Park.

Oswego Officer Cherese Spears was chosen to represent Illinois as a member of the "Final Leg" team of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games, police announced on Facebook Wednesday.

The Special Olympics USA Games will be held June 14 to 21 in New Jersey. The "Final Leg" team will deliver the Flame of Hope to the Opening Ceremony at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
