Oswego Police Begin New Traffic Enforcement

Extra enforcement will focus on driving under the influence of alcohol and seat belt offenses in nighttime hours.

Editor's note: The following is taken from a press release issued by the Oswego Police Department:

 In a continuing effort to increase the safety of motorists traveling throughout the Oswego community, Oswego Police announce an extra traffic enforcement period between Dec. 17 and Jan. 1.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is providing funding through a STEP (Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program) Grant.

The extra enforcement period, which will provide for additional Patrol officers, will be focusing on drivers under the influence and seat belt offenses.

Officers will be patrolling during the nighttime hours between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
