Oswego Police Conduct 'Spare Change' Fundraiser for Special Olympics

Fundraiser celebrates anniversary of first Special Olympics held in Chicago.

The Special Olympics Illinois fundraiser, “Spare Change for Real Change" began July 14 and will continue through July 20 in Oswego, police said Wednesday.  

During this event, Oswego police officers will collect spare change, or the paper kind, at different businesses throughout the community as well as the Oswego Police Department, 3525 Route 34.  

The department is  raising awareness for Special Olympics Illinois and celebrating anniversary of the first ever Special Olympics Games held in Chicago on July 20, 1968.

Officers and Explorers will be at the Walgreens on Orchard Road from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 18. Police invite residents stop out and visit them to donate to Special Olympics Illinois.  

Donations will be accepted at the Oswego Law Enforcement Center as well.
