Over 100 seat belt citations were issued.

The following release was issued by the Oswego Police Department:

Declaring Oswego Police Department's participation in Illinois' annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" drunk driving crackdown a success, the Oswego Police Department reported:

  • one drunk driving arrest
  • 11 other significant arrests
  • 138 seat belt citations
The enforcement period ran from Aug. 16 to Sept. 2 for the Labor Day weekend.

"I am proud of our officers for their hard work and dedication to making our community's roads safer," said Captain Jeff Burgner.

"Drunk driving is more than a reckless choice by a few individuals. Each year, drunk driving costs the lives of thousands on America's highways."

The Oswego Police Department joined forces with hundreds of other police agencies across Illinois and nearly 10,000 law enforcement agencies across the country in this year's campaign.

The enforcement crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over and Click it or Ticket campaigns.
