Oswego Police Inviting Residents to Attend Citizen's Police Academy

Applications may be picked up at the Police Department or completed online. Program is limited to 20 participants.

The Oswego Police Department would like to invite you to attend our Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA).

The CPA is a unique chance to see and experience the inside workings of your police department.

Various Oswego Police Officers will introduce you to their world by sharing their areas ofexpertise and interest.  The CPA runs for twelve weeks from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM. Areas ofdiscussion include:

  • Traffic Enforcement
  • Narcotics Investigations
  • Street Gangs
  • Court Procedures
  • Criminal Code Enforcement Investigations
  • Crime Scene Processing Weather Spotting                          
  • SRT (SWAT Team)
  • Dispatching
  • Hands on Practicals

The CPA is designed for anyone who is interested in helping to keep this community safe and crime free. Our goal is to foster better cooperation and communication between the Oswego Police and the citizen’s we are sworn to protect by showing you why we do things the way we do.  We solicit
citizen input as well.

The CPA is open to any Village resident or people who maintain property or a business in the Village. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.  There is no fee and class size is limited to 20 participants.  An application may be picked up at the Oswego Police Department or completed online.

The next academy class is projected to begin February 6, 2013 and will run for 12 weeks. The classes will be held on Wednesdays at the Oswego Police Department located at 3525 Route 34.  All classes will be held in the Community Room in the lower level of the police department.
