Mattoon men caught with several pounds of marijuana, police said.

made one of the largest drug busts in the department's history Friday with the arrest of two Mattoon men driving through town with 26 pounds of marijuana.

Nicholas Daugherty and Joshua Cobb, both 23, both were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and possession with intent to deliver at about 9:20 p.m. at Route 30 and Harvey Road after a routine traffic stop, said Rob Sherwood, police media relations officer.

Police pulled over the van in which the pair was traveling and discovered a strong odor of marijuana, Sherwood said. Upon searching the van, police found a box in the trunk with the marijuana, which has a street value estimated at about $117,000. Sherwood said he couldn't remember a larger marijuana bust in the department's history.
