The Illinois State Crime Commission named Oswego Police Chief Dwight Baird the 2014 Police Chief of the Year.

Baird earned the award on June 16 for Baird's achievements and service to many professional and civic organizations, according to a village press release.

"The Village of Oswego is privileged to have Chief Baird as a member of our team for his leadership, professionalism and accomplishments," the mayor said.
