Police: Man Shot Himself in the Leg at Meijer

An unidentified 62-year-old Aurora man apparently shot himself in the leg with a .22 caliber handgun at about 3:50 p.m. Thursday at the Oswego Meijer store, according to an Oswego police report.

A call to 911 reported the man had dropped the gun in the store and it went off accidentally. No one besides the man was injured, police said. He was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate the incident and no charges have been filed. Police are withholding the man’s name, pending the outcome of the investigation, they said.
