Police Warning of Traffic Delays

Motorists urged to avoid Route 71 between Plainfield Road and Route 34.

The following was provided by the Oswego police department.

The Village of Oswego Police Department is reminding the public to expect increased traffic congestion and delays in Oswego Friday May 25, Saturday May 26, and Sunday May 27 due do Soccer Festival activities. 

The games will be held on the soccer fields located on the south side of Oswego High School.  Motorists should expect delays in particular while traveling on Illinois Route 71 between Plainfield Road/Washington Street and Route 34.

Delays on Plainfield Road and Washington Street in the area between Franklin Street and Woolley Road are also expected. Increased delays will occur Saturday May 26 at about 11:30a.m. due to the Soccer Fest and graduation.  

Motorists may want to consider alternate routes around these areas if they are not coming in for the festival.

Alternate routes to consider using would be Wolf’s Crossing Road to avoid Plainfield Road congestion and to utilize Rt. 34 to avoid Rt. 71.

Entry and parking for this event will be controlled.  Players/Visitors for this event are asked to enter the event from Wooley Road.  Follow the posted signs for traffic routes and parking.
