Oswego Resident Walks in on Burglary, Suspects Lead Police on Chase: Police

Pair apprehended after crash at Douglas and Barnaby.

An Oswego resident walked in on two men allegedly robbing an Ashcroft Lane home at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Benjamin De La Torre, 18, of Aurora and Jesus Villegas, 23, of the 600 block of Manhattan Circle, Oswego, fled from the home after being discovered, said Oswego Police.

Oswego Police spotted the suspects’ vehicle a short time later and were led on a brief pursuit that ended with a single-car crash near Douglas Road and Barnaby Drive, police said.

De La Torre and Villegas fled from the crash and were quickly caught, police said.

Found in their possession were items stolen from the home, including a television, guns, jewelry and cash totaling a value of $21,000, police said.

De La Torre was charged with residential burglary, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, disobeying a traffic control signal, improper lane usage, speeding, improper overtaking on the right, driving in the wrong lane and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Villegas was charged with residential burglary.

Both were taken to the Kendall County Jail and are awaiting a bond hearing.

Oswego Police were assisted in the incident by Montgomery Police and the Kendall County Sheriff’s office.
