Residents Show some Appreciation for the Oswego Police Department for Police Week

Add your own fun or personal stories or thoughts about the Oswego Police Department.

As you might know, Police Week kicked off on Monday.

For a little backstory, in 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation that designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.

Tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice during the week.

Eva H. Twice, within a few weeks of each other, I had to call them to help me with getting my car door open after accidently dropping my keys in the car while getting my son to daycare. So embarrassing, but I was so grateful!

David E. Fortunately I have not had a lot of need or reasons to call them, but when I have, Oswego Police do a great job. A police officer has a tough job and a difficult one. I highly respect and appreciate them.

Gail R. Thanks for the timely updates on road closures; this has been most helpful.

Cindy R. I love that you posted a picture of that lost dog and want to thank you for doing a little extra to help!

Michelle S. The OPD running this page is entertaining. Thanks for the humor :0)

Michael H. Just want to thank Ofc. Mall for being so polite and helping with a situation my neighbor had this morning! It's great to live in a community with officers like this.

Jeff R. After living in Oswego for more than 20 years, I am proud of the professional standard this group continues to maintain. Chief Baird is to be commended.
