Saturday Crash on Route 126 Leaves Many Injured

A Saturday afternoon crash sent many to the hospital. No deaths have been reported as of 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Six ambulances took motorists and passengers to three area hospitals following a massive wreck on Route 126 in Plainfield Saturday afternoon.

The crash just after 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 126 and County Line Road involved a sport utility vehicle, a passenger car and a motorcycle, said a state police sergeant.

The sergeant was not sure how many were injured in the crash, but said they were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Yorkville, Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in , and to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.

The sergeant said the crash was a "serious" personal injury accident and did not rule out the possibility that it would turn into a fatal wreck.

Three people reportedly were pinned and trapped inside at least one vehicle, and another person was ejected from a vehicle.

Plainfield police assisted state troopers in handling traffic in the wake of the wreck.

The state police sergeant said additional information would be made available Sunday.
