Semi Roll-Over Closes Route 71 on Tuesday Night

Charges could be forthcoming against driver.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a semi-truck roll-over accident near Route 71 and Orchard Road at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, state police said Wednesday.

According to an Illinois State Police District 5 spokesman, the accident is still being investigated and the name of the semi’s driver is not currently being released.  The driver was taken by emergency helicopter to Loyola University Hospital for severe lacerations.

The driver is a 58-year-old man from Seneca, and no charges have been filed, the spokesman said.

The accident caused the closure of Route 71 in the area for several hours.
