Death investigation
The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office are investigating the death last week of a 71-year-old jail inmate.
Ronald Brown of Newark had been in custody since Dec. 22. He was found unresponsive in his cell by corrections deputies at about 5 a.m. Jan. 27.

Brown was in a cell without any other inmates and foul play was not suspected.
An autopsy was to be completed Sunday, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

Drive off
Someone drove off from the Marathon Gas station at 1 Boulder Hill Pass without paying for about $66 in gas around 8:30 a.m., according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. Video tape from the scene is being reviewed in the case.

Domestic battery
William Decker, 21, of the 200 block of Cinderford Drive, was charged with domestic battery and interference of the reporting of domestic violence at about 11 p.m. in the first block of Aldon Road, according to a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office report. The report stated Decker was charged after pulling a female's arm and injuring her finger while she tried to call 911.
