Monday, June 4

Littering leads to drug charges

Brandon Hoppensteadt, 25, of the 400 block of Waubonsee Court in Oswego, and Ronald Reinert, 24, of the 9000 block of Cornelis Road in Bristol, were charged with possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at 12:57 a.m. on Route 30 at Douglas Road, Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies said. Hoppensteadt, Reinert and a third occupant of the car, David Cohen, 20, of the 13000 block of Grande Pines Boulevard in Plainfield, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. The car was initially pulled over because Reinert threw trash out the window, and Reinert was charged with littering, police said.

Drunken (not) driving

David Ortiz, 23, of Chicago, was charged with drunken driving after police found him in his car parked on the grass off of Augusta Road at Kevin Lane in Oswego at 1:30 a.m., Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies said. The car had its emergency flashers on, police said, and Ortiz was also charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane use.

Joseph Duda, 23, of the 500 block of Parkview Court in Oswego, was charged with drunken driving and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 3:08 a.m. on Route 126 at Grove Road, Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies said. Duda was initially stopped for speeding – he was traveling 84 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone, police said.
