Sheriff's Office Recovers Nearly $75,000 In Stolen Property With Public's Help

Items recovered include stolen parts from Caterpillar, a trailer and tractor and more.

In the past month, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office has recovered close to $75,000 in stolen property.

Kendall County Sheriff’s Office investigators were able to recover approximately $26,000 worth of stolen parts stemming from a Theft at Caterpillar, a trailer and Kubota tractor valued at approximately $22,000 stemming from a Motor Vehicle Theft case, and Bronze cemetery vases valued at approximately $25,000 from the recent case at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.

“Information from the public has played a crucial role in recovering these items”, said Sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Hal.  “We encourage people to report crime when they see it.  We also want people to share information they have about past crimes”.

Members of the public call in, and the phone is answered by an out of state representative.  They are then provided a number, effectively acting as the individual’s name, so that after an arrest is made that individual can call back with that number to claim an award.  Once an arrest is made, a reward of up to $1,000 can be paid out.

“Our Investigators hard work and dedication has paid off, and it’s a great feeling to be able to tell victims of these crimes that we have recovered property they never thought they would see again,” said Harl. “Unfortunately, many times without receiving information from the public, these cases are unable to be resolved”.
