Shoplifter Batters Loss Prevention Officer During Retail Theft: Police

Retail theft

Oswego police are investigating a retail theft that occurred at 1:54 p.m. at a business in the 2300 block of Route 34. A female shoplifting suspect reportedly battered the loss prevention employee that attempted to stop her. She reportedly stole $343.31 worth of merchandise.

Oswego police took a report for an air conditioner that was stolen between Oct. 25 and Oct. 29 in the 4800 block of Weaver Street from a home under construction. The air conditioner is valued at $2,500.

Possession of stolen motor vehicle, aggravated reckless driving, leaving the scene of an injury accident, DUI, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle

Jordan Easton, 21, of the 2700 block of Lake Shore Drive, Joliet, was arrested at 12:55 a.m. at Orchard Road and Lewis Street and charged with the possession of a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated reckless driving, leaving the scene of an injury accident, DUI and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, said Oswego police.

Warrant

Nicholas J. Ryan, 19, of the 3100 block of Teal Bay Court, Aurora, was arrested at 10 p.m. in the 2300 block of Route 34 on a failure to appear warrant for aggravated battery, said Oswego police.

Residential burglary

Oswego police took a report for a residential burglary that occurred at 6 p.m. in the 200 block of Stillwater Court. There is no suspect information at this time.

Tuesday, Oct. 29

Burglary to a motor vehicle

Oswego police are investigating a reported burglary to a motor vehicle that occurred at an unknown time in the 0-99 block of Stonehill Road. Over $300 was reported in loss and over $300 was reported in damage.

Theft of a motor vehicle

Oswego police took a report for a report of a stolen motor vehicle that was stolen from a driveway from the 500 block of Lakeview Drive at 11 p.m. The incident is under investigation.

Possession of cannabis

Jazmine Kimmons, 18, of the 500 block of Park, Aurora, was arrested at 7:40 p.m. at Douglas and charged with the possession of cannabis, said Oswego police.

No valid driver’s license

  • John L. Heard, 23, of the 5000 block of Harbor Lane, Richton Park, was arrested at 12:18 a.m. at Grove and Lakeview and charged for driving without a valid driver’s license, said Oswego police. He was also cited for failure to signal.
  • Silvia Martinez-Aguilar, 52, of the 200 block of Forest Avenue, Aurora, was arrested at 1:06 a.m. at Douglas and Long Beach and charged for driving without a valid driver’s license, said Oswego police. He was also cited with improper lane usage.

Theft

  • Oswego police took a report for a missing/stolen cell phone at Oswego East High School. The phone is valued at $300.
  • Oswego police are investigating  a reported theft of an iPhone 4 valued at $300 from Target.

Monday, Oct. 28

Credit card fraud

Oswego police took a report for the unlawful use of a credit card that occurred between Oct. 24 and Oct. 27. The victim reported her card was used to make several charges in Ohio.

Hit and run

Oswego police took a report for a hit and run accident that occurred at 4:30 p.m. at Wolf and Harvey. A vehicle turning right onto Harvey from Wolf struck the victim’s driver side mirror and continued onto Harvey without stopping to provide information. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oswego Police department.

Sunday, Oct. 27

Retail theft

Oswego police took a report of a retail theft that occurred at 2:45 a.m. at the Oswego Meijer. A bottle of brandy was reported stolen.

Saturday, Oct. 26

Fire

Oswego Police took a report for a fire that was started about 3:15 p.m. in the 700 block of Cole Avenue. The incident is under investigation.

Domestic battery

Oswego police are investigating a reported domestic battery that occurred at 2:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Wilmore Drive.

Theft

  • Oswego police took a report for the theft of fuel that occurred at 5:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of Route 34. $31.48 worth of fuel was reported stolen.
  • A juvenile, 17, was arrested at 10:29 a.m. in the 1600 block of Douglas Road and charged with retail theft for a total of $32, said Oswego police.
