Shot Fired at Light Road Apartment Leads to Gun Charge
Police allege a Millington man pulled the trigger on a weapon he didn't think was loaded and fired a shot into a neighboring apartment.
A Millington man was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, no firearm owner's identification card and criminal damage to property at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday after pulling the trigger on what he thought was an unloaded gun, according to a Kendall County Sheriff's Office report.
The incident took place at 1700 Light Road in unincorporated Kendall County near Oswego. Police said Adam H. Lobdell, of 708 W. Sycamore St. in Millington, told deputies he took a handgun from the resident of the apartment. Not realizing it was loaded, he pointed the weapon at a window and fired it, according to reports.
The bullet traveled though the front window of a neighboring window and continued through the apartment before it came to rest in a bathroom wall. A resident was at home during the incident, but was uninjured, the report said.
