Two rounds of storms that swept through the area late Friday night left thousands of area residents without power.
High winds knocked down power lines and trees across Oswego, Yorkville and Plano. At its peak the storm produced winds of up to 90 mph in the area, according to the National Weather Service.
Police Chief Dwight Baird said Oswego came out of the storm without any major issues. A portion of Minkler Road was blocked off by a fallen tree for some time last night, he said, but the debris has been cleared. And Route 71 was closed at Orchard Road due to downed power lines, he said, which affected village traffic.
According to reports on the Oswego Patch Facebook page, downed trees blocked Plainfield Road near Douglas Road.
As of Saturday morning, ComEd’s outage map shows less than 500 Oswego-area customers without power.
