Traffic Congestion and Delays Expected with Quilt Festival this Weekend

Oswego Police suggest alternate routes for the area.

The following release was issued by the Oswego Police Department:

The Village of Oswego Police Department is reminding the public to expect increased traffic congestion and delays in Oswego Saturday June 1, 2013 from 10:00a.m to 4p.m due to Quilt Festival activities.

Motorists should expect delays in particular while traveling on US Route 34 through the downtown area.  Delays on Madison, Washington and Main Street in the Downtown Oswego area are expected.  Main Street will be closed between Washington and Jackson Streets.  Street closures will begin Saturday June 1 at 6 a.m. and will continue until 6 p.m.

Motorists may want to consider alternate routes around these areas if they are not coming in for the event.  Visitors to the event are asked to utilize the public parking lot on Harrison Street or the areas south of Washington Street and east of Madison Street for additional parking.

Alternate traffic routes to be considered:  Use Rt. 71 to travel west out of town instead of Rt. 34.  Rt. 31 north to Rt. 30 to avoid downtown and Rt. 34 traffic.
