Two Face DUI Charges After Oswego Crash: Police

The 21-year-old and 16-year-old were both seen driving the car prior to the crash, according to police.

An Oswego teen and his 21-year-old friend are both charged with DUI following a one-car crash Wednesday on Old Post Road, police said.

Stephen A. Progar, 21, of the 200 block of Stonemill Lane, and the 16-year-old, of the 400 block of Gloria Lane, were spotted doing "doughnuts" in the parking lot of Old Post Elementary, Oswego Capt. Jeff Burgner said.

According to witnesses, the teenager — who was driving his parents' car — was initially in the driver's seat, Burgner said. The two then switched, and the 21-year-old took the wheel before driving out of the parking lot, according to police.

Police believe Progar was behind the wheel when the Infiniti G35 left the road on Old Post Drive near Charlotte Lane at around 7:07 p.m. and struck some landscaping pavers, Burgner said. Progar then fled the scene of the crash on foot, according to police, but was quickly located by officers.

The teen was charged with DUI and released to his parents, Burgner said.

Program was charged with DUI, along with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane use, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving, according to police reports.

No one was hurt in the incident, police said.
