Woman Dies After Fall From Horse Near Oswego

The 54-year-old woman sustained internal head injuries during her fall off a horse, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office said.

3:40 p.m. Tuesday update:

The Kane County Coroner told Patch he does not suspect foul play in the death of Wheaton resident Susan Kelly.

"We're confident… we believe it was an accident, simply put, tragic," Rob Russell said.

Russell said people were interviewed that witnessed Kelly’s fall. The Coroner’s Office will not conduct an autopsy on Kelly, but toxicology tests were performed to confirm there were no other causes.  

Kelly leaves behind a husband, according to the Coroner’s Office. Further information about her family was not immediately available.

A call to Judgement Farm's main number went to voicemail Tuesday afternoon. Judgement Farm is a full service hunter/jumper barn that provides instruction and helps riders improve their skills, according to its website.

A 54-year-old Wheaton woman died after she fell off a horse Monday near Oswego, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.

Susan R. Kelly, of the 1900 block of Legends Drive, sustained internal head injuries during the fall, which occurred at Judgement Farms on the 3400 block of Roth Road in Oswego Township. She was wearing a helmet, according to deputies who were dispatched at 7:29 p.m. Monday to the farms.

The Oswego Fire Protection District transported Kelly to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where she succumbed to her injuries, the Sheriff's Office said. The Kane County Coroner's Office is investigating the incident.
