‘Big Lar’ Shares His Final Cuts for Oswego Elected Officials

Your new look Oswego Team features “Conservative” Veterans and Experienced Business Professionals on The Village Board, School Board & Park District Board.

Our Captain in the infield is our current Village Board President: Brian LeClercq - Short Stop. The Short Stop is the General of the infield and Brian is bringing new jobs to Oswego by attracting Light Industrial, Light Manufacturing and Corporate Headquarters. He’s also working with our U.S. Congressman Randy Hultgren to get the Train Station in Oswego, and he’s against the $23 Million TIF that “One” developer would benefit from that all of us Tax Payers have to GUARANTEE.

The other Village Board Trustees that made the team are:Terry Michaels – Pitcher; Tony Giles – Catcher;  Even their opponents for Village Trustee, said the current board is very “Fiscally Responsible” at the WSPY Candidates forum on March 17. They voted and passed a budget that cut spending. They approved every local business expansion that came before the board. They are against unfair Tax

Incentives to new Companies that would create unfair advantages against current business owners. They are against the $23 Million Tax Payer guaranteed TIF/Bond that would benefit one developer at our risk.

David Richardson is the Rookie Politician who earned a spot on the team as your 3rd vote for Trustee. David Richardson - Designated Hitter. David owns his own Construction Remodeling Business by trade. He was instrumental in a movement to save the Park & Ride and he is very pro Train Station, Against Tax Payer Guaranteed $23 Million TIF / Bond going to one Developer.

Other parts of the “New Look” Starting Line-Up are your Conservative School Board Candidates playing the Outfield we have: Bill Walsh – Left Field, Brent Lightfoot – Center Field, Paul Lark – Right Field. These School Board candidates won the Starting Position in the Outfield because they all understand fiscal planning due to their professional background. The 3rd School will be stopped with all 3 of these players in the outfield!!! Also, they will see that the administration starts paying for a portion of their benefits, develop a plan for the school district within their budget and raise test scores in the process.

Your Park District Board players that made the team are: Leonard Wass – 3rd Base, Roy White – 2nd Base, Salvador Barocio – 1st Base. The Oswego Park District spending per resident is more than twice as much as any Park District in the country. Go figure how this has flown under the radar for so long. This trio will cut wasteful spending, which is Lenard Wass’ professional expertise. The Oswego Park District has more than double the average fees of neighboring Park Districts to pay for their out of control spending.

As for the Players that didn’t make the team: Phillip Smith did not make the Final Roster. It’s not because I don’t like his politics but I had to make a choice of the 3 for Village President. If Phillip doesn’t win, I truly hope he gets on a committee and/or stays connected with local politics and runs again for a Trustee or Board position.

Scott Gryder was traded. His current Campaign Pledge is “No New Taxes….Period." When Scott was in a position on the Library Board to raise taxes or not he voted to raise our taxes in the Library District by approximately 24%. This additional tax burden has taken close $1 million per year over the last 4 years from tax payers, with 16 more years to go. Also, when I asked what measure he’s taken to cut expenses, like the current Village Board has done, he has not presented anything. I’m unaware of Scott explaining his vote in a public forum. He is supported by some voters who are unaware of this tax increase or positions on many issues.

The other Trio of Trustee Candidates were cut because they are virtually all running on the same Pro-Developer platform. Mainly, they want Crony Capitalism, close relationships w/ select local business and government officials, in Oswego and sign our names on the dotted line to guarantee a $23 million TIF / Bond that would benefit “one” developer in town. One of them actually said, “We should do a TIF because Plainfield did a TIF and look how nice their downtown is compared to ours”. This trio will also extend Government Coupons as they call it, or tax incentives, to attract business competitors to Oswego. This sounds like a great idea until you realize that they don’t care that this policy would hurt existing employers because they won’t be able to fairly compete. But this is ok if your only goal is to say you increased jobs without recognizing the existing jobs you hurt. Further, they fail to recognize that these policies will fail due to the difficult economic times we are all in which has been caused by Washington and Springfield and not the Village Board of Oswego.

Judy Sollinger has been ‘benched’. She stated in her WPSY radio interview that the board is Anti-Business. In this same radio interview she went on to say she couldn’t offer one example of Brian LeClercq being Anti-Business, then or since, and that she respects him. As recently as March 17 at the WSPY Candidates Forum, Judy, along with the Trio mention above, all stated that the current board has been very fiscally responsible. Judy voted against cutting spending that the board passed. She supports Crony Capitalism as mentioned above, unfair tax incentives and making us guarantee her $23 million TIF project.

Finally: Vote “NO” to the Senior Center Referendum. This has been pushed by Candidates that have been cut from the Team as only a $14 per year Tax Increase. In Actuality, it’s a $2.1 Million dollar set aside for local officials to spend as they choose.
