Free Tax Prep Offered at Oswego Senior Center

Appointments are available Mondays through April 7 and two Saturdays in March.

Starting Monday, Feb. 17, the Oswego Senior Center will offer free income tax return preparation.

Volunteers will provide free state and federal tax prep for individuals who earn $25,000 or less, or families with an income up to $52,000. Volunteers are trained and certified through VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Preparation Assistance) in collaboration with the IRS.

Appointments are available from 1 to 5 p.m. Mondays through April 17, at the center, 156 E. Washington St.

Sunday appointments will also be offered on from 9 a.m. to noon on March 8 and March 22.

Residents should bring the following information to their appointments: Proof of identification for you and your spouse (if filing jointly);  Social Security cards for spouse and dependents; birth dates, all W-2's and/or 1099's ; property tax bill, if home owner; information on other types of income (interest, self-employment, etc.) a copy of last year's return, if possible, and bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit in case of a refund.
