Letter to the Editor: Amanda Mancke Not Afraid to Speak Out

Send your letter to the editor to steven.jack@patch.com

On April 5 I am voting for Amanda Mancke.

When my friends and I met Amanda recently, she listened to all of our ideas and concerns, and we all shared our excitement for the future of our town. We need Board members who are positive, responsive, and care about the residents of Oswego.

We need someone who will get things done and is not afraid to speak out. Amanda has all of these qualities. I, along with many other residents, have concerns that there is not enough economic development occurring to help reduce our tax burden. When I moved into the community 13 years ago I was promised lower taxes than surrounding communities.

Also, what happened to the Metra station? I want to maintain "small town charm", which we have, but we can and should develop the downtown area. We need more unique shops and cafés! We need to put more effort into the appearance of our downtown.

I have confidence that Amanda will do this. The need is urgent and the time is NOW! Let’s make a change in how our Village operates. Elect Amanda Mancke and make Oswego a community we can all be proud of!!
